FINAT, the European association for the self-adhesive label industry holds an annual competition showcasing the best of self-adhesive label print.
This year Constantia Flexibles Labels Division was delighted to be recognised for the high standard of printing on several of their labels.
In the printing processes category Constantia received the Gravure print award for the new Heineken body label – “Green Identity”. Heineken recently undertook a redesign of their iconic label, Ramses Dingenouts, Senior Packaging & Identity Design Manager explains:
The green bottle with the ‘race-track shaped’ body label is THE worldwide icon of the Heineken brand. The latest evolutionary re-design respects all the authentic brand symbols, and dials up the 3 key elements: the red star has been enlarged, the characteristic Heineken wordmark pops out better and translucent green is now also being integrated in the central banner. It makes Heineken again look fresh, iconic and premium.
Constantia, who were delighted to partner Heineken on this project, utilised gravure print technology to manufacture the 7 colour label. The use of high reflectance silver inks in combination with high opacity white inks ensured the fundamental design requirements were fully realised.
