Meet Julian Williams GMC 2 Print Operator - Spear Cwmbran

Name: Julian Williams

Location: Spear, Cwmbran

Current Position: GMC 2 Print Operator

How long have you been with the company? 16 years

Julian was sponsored by Constantia Flexibles to participate in a charity bike ride for pancreatic cancer awareness.

What motivated you to do the bike ride? My wife lost her father to pancreatic cancer in 1999, out of all the cancer charities this particular one has little funding.

Was this the first bike ride you have done for charity? I also ride in the Brecon Beast which is held in September. This is an off road event which all local charities in Brecon Benefit from including the mountain rescue team.

What is the name of your charity and what connection do you have with them? Pancreatic Cancer Awareness. My local town of Blaenavon, which I grew up in, supports this charity as well.

Do you raise money for the same charity every time? Or do you change your charities? Some events I ride in have designated charities and the entry money is passed to them.

Can you give me some back ground of the bike ride?
How long it took? Where you started from and where it ended?
It is called the Wales Velothon, which is a closed road sporting event. Over 14,000 people take part departing from Cardiff and finishing in Cardiff.  The Route was 89 miles. It was the best experience I have had so far cycling.  The ride took about 6 hours, including feed stops.

Do you have any future plans to take part in any more charity events? I will be riding the Brecon Beast again in September and any other events I can fit in.
